Legal

The boring part,
written plainly.

Three things in one place: who you are contracting with, what you are buying when you win a slot, and what happens to your data. Last updated 27 August 2026.

Not yet complete. These publisher details are still blank in lib/legal.ts: name, status, address, siret. French law requires them on a commercial site, and the terms below cannot bind anyone to an entity that is not named.

Trademarks

Apple, MacBook and MacBook Pro are trademarks of Apple Inc. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Apple Inc. in any way. The machine is referred to by name descriptively, to identify the object a sticker is applied to. Brand names and logos shown on this site belong to their respective owners and appear with their permission as sponsors.

02 — Terms of sale

Terms of sale

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms govern every bid placed on this site. By placing a bid you confirm that you are acting in the course of a business, on behalf of the brand you name, and that you are authorised to commit that brand to the amount you bid.

This is a business-to-business sale. The consumer protections of the French Consumer Code, including the fourteen-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts, do not apply. If you are not buying in a professional capacity, do not bid.

2. What you are buying

A winning bid buys a licence to have your logo physically applied, by the publisher and by hand, to a defined position on the publisher’s own personal property — a laptop lid or a backpack panel — for the period described for that surface, together with a named and linked sponsor listing on this site for the same period.

You are not buying advertising inventory, a media placement, a number of impressions, a number of views, an audience, leads, or any commercial outcome. Nothing on this site is a guarantee that any particular person will see your logo.

3. How the auction works

  • Each position has a reserve price. Bids below the reserve are refused.
  • A new bid must exceed the current leading bid by at least the stated minimum increment.
  • Backpack patches are leased for a term you choose between one and twelve months, and bids are ranked by monthly rate rather than by total.
  • A bid placed within the final ten minutes extends that position's clock by ten minutes, repeatedly, until ten minutes pass with no further bid.
  • The publisher may correct, close, extend or cancel any auction at any time, including where a technical fault, an obvious pricing error or suspected manipulation is involved.

A bid is binding. Once your deposit clears, your bid is an irrevocable offer to pay the full amount if you are the leading bidder when that position closes. Bids cannot be withdrawn or lowered.

4. The deposit

Placing a bid requires a deposit of 20% of the bid amount, with a minimum of $10, taken at the time of bidding through Stripe. Your bid does not exist until that deposit has cleared.

  • If another bidder overtakes you, the deposit is refunded in full and automatically to the card used. No interest is payable on it in the meantime.
  • If your bid is refused after the deposit has been taken - for example, because you were outbid while you were completing payment, or the position closed - the deposit is refunded in full.
  • If you win, the deposit is applied against the price and only the balance is charged.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method. The time it takes to appear on your statement is set by your bank, not by the publisher.

5. Winning, and paying the balance

When a position closes, the leading bid wins and the remaining balance is charged automatically to the card used for the deposit. If that charge fails or your bank requires additional authentication, you will be sent a link to complete it. If the balance is not settled within 48 hours, the publisher may cancel the sale, retain the deposit as compensation for the position being held off the market, and offer the position to the next highest bidder.

6. Approval, and the right to refuse

Every brand and every piece of artwork is reviewed by hand. The publisher may refuse any brand or artwork at sole discretion, before or after an auction closes, without giving reasons.

If your brand or artwork is refused, everything you have paid for that position — deposit and balance — is refunded in full, and that refund is the entire extent of the publisher’s liability to you for the refusal. The publisher will not be liable for any cost, campaign, or expectation built around the position in the meantime.

7. What will not be accepted

The following are refused as a matter of policy:

  • Adult content, escort or dating services of a sexual nature
  • Gambling, betting, lotteries and casino products
  • Tobacco, vaping, recreational drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • Weapons, ammunition and explosives
  • Political parties, candidates, referendum campaigns and lobbying
  • Religious or spiritual proselytising
  • Cryptocurrency token sales, trading signals and yield schemes
  • Payday lending, debt relief, and get-rich-quick or MLM offers
  • Anything that disparages a person or group, or that is hateful, harassing or discriminatory
  • Counterfeit goods, or any mark the bidder does not own or is not licensed to use
  • Anything unlawful in France or in a country on the published itinerary

8. Your artwork and your rights in it

You warrant that you own, or are licensed to use, every trademark, logo, name and image you upload, and that its display as contemplated by these terms infringes nobody’s rights.

You grant the publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence, for the term of your placement and afterwards for archival and portfolio purposes, to reproduce and display your artwork: on the physical surface, on this site, and in photographs and video in which the surface appears, including on social media.

You agree to indemnify the publisher against any third-party claim, damage, cost or legal fee arising from artwork you supplied or from your breach of this section.

9. Application, wear and loss

Stickers and patches are applied by hand, using reasonable care. They are physical objects on an object in daily use: they will scuff, fade, peel and age. Ordinary wear is not a defect and is not grounds for a refund.

If a sticker or patch is damaged, lost or removed during the paid period, the publisher will make reasonable efforts to reapply it. If the device or bag is lost, stolen, destroyed, or has to be replaced or repaired, the publisher will either reapply your artwork to the replacement for the remainder of your term, or refund the unused portion of that term on a pro rata basis. That choice belongs to the publisher, and one of those two outcomes is the whole of your remedy.

10. Travel is described, not promised

The itineraries, destinations and dates on this site describe what the publisher currently intends to do. They are not contractual commitments. Travel plans change for reasons including cost, visas, weather, illness, work and simple preference.

No refund, discount or compensation is due if a described trip is delayed, shortened, rerouted or does not happen, or if your logo is photographed in fewer places than you hoped.

11. Term and removal

  • Laptop lid: the placement runs for the working life of that machine, and in any case for a minimum of twelve months from application. The publisher may retire the machine after that minimum without owing a refund.
  • Backpack panel: the placement runs for the leased term you selected, starting from the day the patch is applied. When it ends the patch is removed and the position returns to auction.
  • You may ask for your artwork to be removed early at any time. No refund is due if you do.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher’s total liability to you, on any basis and however arising, is limited to the total amount you actually paid for the position concerned.

The publisher is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and specifically not for lost profit, lost revenue, lost opportunity, wasted marketing spend, or damage to reputation or goodwill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Events outside anyone’s control

The publisher is not in breach of these terms because of anything outside reasonable control, including illness, accident, border closures, travel restrictions, natural events, war, strikes, and failures of payment, hosting or postal providers.

14. Changes

These terms may change. The version that governs your purchase is the one published at the moment you placed your bid; the date at the top of this page records the current version. Material changes will not be applied retroactively to a position already won.

15. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably will be brought before the competent courts of France. As this is a business-to-business contract, the parties expressly agree to that jurisdiction.

03 — Privacy and personal data

Privacy and personal data

The data controller is the publisher named in the legal notice above, reachable at hello@travelyourbrand.com. This section explains what is collected, why, and what you can do about it, under the GDPR.

What is collected

  • Account: your email address, and the name and avatar Google returns when you sign in.
  • Brand: the brand name, website and logo you submit, plus a billing email if it differs from your account email.
  • Auction activity: your bids, their amounts and timestamps, and their outcome. Bid amounts and brand names are shown publicly, because an auction nobody can inspect is not credible. Your email address is never shown.
  • Payments: Stripe identifiers, the last four digits and brand of the card, and the amounts charged and refunded. Full card numbers are entered on Stripe's own pages and are never received, seen or stored by the publisher.
  • Technical: server request logs, and privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies and do not build a cross-site profile of you.

How long it is kept

  • Account and brand data: until you ask for deletion, or two years after your last activity.
  • Auction and payment records: ten years, as required for French accounting and tax records.
  • Server logs: typically thirty days.
  • Uploaded logos: for the placement period, and afterwards in the archive of trips the artwork appeared in.

Cookies

Only strictly necessary cookies are used: the session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a local preference storing whether you chose the dark theme. Neither is used for tracking or advertising, and neither requires consent. Analytics on this site are cookieless.

Your rights

You may request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to hello@travelyourbrand.com and you will get an answer within one month.

Erasure has a limit worth stating plainly: records the publisher must keep for accounting will be retained for the legal period even after the rest of your account is deleted.

If you believe your data is mishandled you may complain to the CNIL, the French supervisory authority, at cnil.fr.
